Day 988
Today was “bath day” at The Big White House! Gus was in the greatest need, so he pulled the short straw. Putting the brakes on with all four paws, he refused to move towards the dreaded shower! Picking him up, I guided him into the bathroom and, eventually, we both stood on the other side of the sliding shower doors. Whew! Disregarding my walking boots and jeans, the water came on and a clean pup eventually appeared! I was soaked!
After a quick towel dry of Mr. Gus, I decided to abort the next “victim” and grab some dry clothes! However, Sammy walked right into the shower and looked at me as if to say, “Let’s do this." What was a Golden Mom to do?
Sam was a good sport, but Gus was obstinate at best. If he only knew how much better he was going to feel with clean, shiny fur. He simply saw this experiment as a torture session with no favorable outcome!
We all do things we don’t necessarily like. Going to the dentist, some forms of exercise, eating our veggies…possibly not our first choice of activities! We do know, however, that some things are good for us whether we like them or not!
Beyond some obvious habits that maintain health and well-being, perhaps there are a few other activities we might nurture…even though they are not first on our list of things we enjoy! If I had to pick three such things, I might choose:
*more time reading nonfiction
*embracing more adventures
*focusing more on serious exercise
None of these would be a first choice, but I know these activities would better my life.
Perhaps I will give these ideas some serious consideration. Before I do that though, I am going to go snuggle with some clean, slightly damp Goldens. That is on the top of my list at to the moment!
