Day 987

When kindness is offered to my Goldens, it touches my heart. Today, on the way to visit our beloved Harmonica Man, we stopped to pick up a donut for our favorite 101-year-old! At the window, the employee asked if Gus would like a pup cup. I all but melted at the offer and Gus was beyond grateful!

It is not only kindness toward my pups that touches my heart, but kindness in general. I see someone rush to open a door for someone with an armload of packages. I watch as a stranger intervenes at the hospital to push a wheelchair to its destination. A neighbor shoveling our walk can simply make my day. Beyond these examples, one only has to look to see kind acts abound.

In a world where negative happenings make the news, we only have to be observant and aware to see the multitude of positive gestures that far outweigh the downside.

Today, kindness was offered to my Gus. The feeling in my heart made my throat tighten. It occurred to me that I could create that feeling in the many hearts I encountered today. Even acknowledging the individuality of those we meet can brighten a day. Perhaps telling the young man at the checkout that he has a nice smile or the waitress serving your table that she is an amazing server is so simple… and yet it might just warm their heart.

If you asked Gus, he would agree! That pup cup made his day!
