Day 986
We just changed the hardware on our kitchen cabinetry. Needing to reuse the backplates (the entire kitchen would have needed repainting) was needed, but the handles were fresh and new! It only took about three hours with two trips to Menards for different lengths of screws. I called it a victory!!!!!
There is a laundry list of things that challenge me…carpentry is near the top! However, when I am successful with a project, my “happy meter” zooms out of control. It is much more rewarding than succeeding at something that comes more easily. Perhaps that is one of the reasons we don’t honor those gifts we take for granted and place them on the shelf.
We all have gifts. Many people refuse to embrace those talents and burrow into their comfort zone where the status quo keeps us satisfied. Putting our talents out in front of the public opens the door to criticism and ridicule. Music, athletics, art, leadership and other talents might be hidden to save potential, perceived embarrassment.
What if we all embraced our gifts and shared them with the world without fear of negative consequences? It would seem to be a win-win for everyone! Individuals would feel validated while the world would become a richer place.
Embrace your gifts and share them with those around you! We can all benefit from those hidden talents… just don’t expect me to embrace my “building skills” and share them with the world any time soon!
