Day 950

We received a Christmas “card” from a dear sister-friend today. This special lady shared so much with me as we were growing up in the old neighborhood! We both loved horses, Star Trek, popcorn (7-Up and grenadine), her parents (our day care/ bonus grandparents… and dogs!

As children, there were always dogs! Even today, we share that love! Sending this gift brought back a flood of memories of childhood in the 1950’s!

Gifts, in my childhood, were beautifully simple. There were no electronics and no shopping on Amazon. Instead, we shopped in the Sears Wishbook, where we circled box games and Barbie accessories and dreamed of Christmas morning while our family watched The Andy Williams Christmas Special on a box TV. My memories are cherished.

On my walk with Goldens today, I was honestly thinking about a gift of paper dolls I had once received. I did love that gift, but not as much as the “paper doll Golden” which arrived at our home today. Not only did it transport me back to the magic of childhood, but my heart was so very warmed by this special gift from a beloved friend!

This holiday season, try to take time to sit quietly and let your good memories flood your heart. As for me, I just can’t stop smiling…
