Day 949

Sammy is our sweet, crazy, impetus two-year-old! He comes from a line of Therapy Dogs and was chosen as “Most likely to succeed and become a Therapy Dog” when a Dog Behaviorist spent time with the litter! He was destined for greatness at an early age!

The only problem is our huge puppy still has the “Zoomies” and displays some unpredictable behavior! His obedience has been honed to perfection…until he loses focus and becomes an adorable clown! What to do…

There are many people in our lives who fail to meet our expectations. For whatever reason, their actions surprise us in a negative way and our judgment might be bordering on disapproval. Perhaps it is our upbringing or our own experiences and life battles, but humans can be judgmental.

Sammy has taught me so much in regard to expectations. When he arrived, I was ready to start training towards his certification. Sam had other ideas! He has humbled me on many occasions, but still we persevere. There are NO doubts in my mind that he will make a wonderful Therapy Dog. The only glitch is timing. I have my goals and Sammy has HIS!!!! Compromise is not in the cards.

The lessons I have embraced are:

*Everyone has their own timeline to success.

*Do not have unreasonable expectations for others.

*Try not to feel frustrated when others challenge your timeline for them…it is their timeline after all.

*Avoid judging others.

*Never lose faith in those we love. Be their cheerleader!

Sammy will eventually be an amazing Therapy Dog…of that I have NO doubt. We will celebrate that day soon, but only when Sammy “barks” he is ready!
