Day 922
Anyone who knows me well KNOWS I love Christmas!!! The Halloween decorations go down in the basement after the last ‘Trick-or-Treater,’ and Christmas decorations join me on my way up to get the next orange and black load. By the time I am done, the Halloween color scheme has changed to red and green!
Each year, a few extra decorations join the family. This year, on a recommendation from a dear friend, we added a ‘light-up golden retriever’ to the mix. When it arrived, all four of our pack ran up to give it the once-over, but soon discovered it was not real. They knew within a few seconds that the new dog was artificial. Dogs just know!
People, on the other hand, are not that intuitive. It has been my experience that humans can be easily fooled by others when a lack of honesty is camouflaged by a witty discussion, pretty face or boastful nature. It is a challenge to see into the depths of an individual when their facade is so believable.
There is a fine line between accepting a person at face value and being perceptive enough to see beneath the surface. Like my Goldens, I have developed a sense for what is real and what might just be artificial! It is a challenge.
Although I am a work in progress, at least I can tell the difference between a real Golden and a Christmas Light-up variety!!! On the other paw, perhaps I should follow my dogs’ lead! They can usually tell at the first sniff!
