Day 911

This big guy is exhausted after spending time at Mercy! Lilly went to Walker before that and she was happy to hit the couch as well! They don’t hold back with their love…even with complete strangers. They have the purest hearts.

Today found us involved with more than a few stories that tugged at our heartstrings…

Lilly

A sweet senior lady came up and greeted our girl with such affection. She asked, “Do you remember two years ago when the paramedics were taking me out to the ambulance? Lilly came over and licked my hand. I don’t remember much of that day, but I always recall this sweet dog offering kisses. It meant so much.”

Ranger

Visiting a waiting room, we connected with a young woman who was waiting to see if her dear friend was coming out of organ failure. If she could be stabilized and gain strength, this lady was hoping to move forward with plans for her to be the organ donor for her friend. She confided that her friend has a five-year-old son and that her husband had passed away three years ago. We listened. She stroked Ranger’s soft head and a calm settled in. We left with new “friends” to hold close to our hearts.

These are just two of the stories we embraced today. These fur angels touched many hearts and, as their ‘feather dusters’ wagged down the hallways. They left peace, comfort and lovely connections in their wake.

I marvel at the way people open up and share their lives when one of my therapy dogs is present. It is as if they finally can unload their fears and sadness without feeling exposed. Talking to a dog will do that!

Lilly and Ranger are resting after their time spent lifting people’s spirits. They deserve it and so much more! We are so blessed to have these animals amongst us!
