Day 902
Today, my list was long. After walking the Goldens, I dug right in. At almost every turn, there was a pup who wanted my attention. One needed water, the next decided it was time for lunch. A third wanted to go outside while the fourth wanted to play!!! I was ready to throw in the towel on that list when I began to reevaluate my reaction to my needy pack.
After that reevaluation, if any of them approached, I opened my arms and took the time to love them with back scratches, tummy rubs and snuggles. After a moment or two, they would move on to another enticement, but their needs were met. I could then go back to my list until the next command performance!
They gave so much love and made me smile over and over again. It was worth every interruption!
Lists are great, but life is not made up of lists. When too focused on the minutia of life, “life” goes on without you. I found myself reevaluating my daily priorities. Accomplishing the things that must be done is a good thing. Making sure not to miss the really important moments is even better!
Time to get dinner on the table, but not before a few scratches behind doggy ears and a hug for the guy who will sit down to that dinner.
If a list starts to take precedence, I think I will add the most important things to that list… moments that make the world a little warmer and more wonderful!
