Day 903
Today, the Goldens were helping me with some tasks to prepare the yard for winter. By helping, I mean romping around with an occasional look my way.
Hoses in…check!
Fill the yard waste bin with leaves…check!
Lawn furniture in the gazebo… check!
Withered potted plants…Wait a minute!
As I dealt with the mums, I caught my breath as a bright surprise waited beneath the dried flowers. I actually said, “Hello there! What are you doing…blooming at this time of year?”
Of course, the small flower didn’t answer. Instead, it simply seemed to spread its leaves and stand a bit taller. I was intrigued.
When we least expect it, hope arises. Sometimes in the shape of a little flower, other times in the words of a friend or a hug from someone special. There are a million signs of beauty and hope each day. We only need to uncover it or heighten our awareness.
I think I will go out and save that little flower by replanting it and bringing it inside. It will be a reminder to look for the unexpected to feel hope in each day.
Once again, my Golden crew was a step ahead of me… they dug up the dirt to “help” me plant!
