Day 901

Minnesotans know that the transition from fall to winter is a challenge! In the last two days, we watched as they snowplowed the football field, I ‘shoveled’ wet leaves into a bin and I mowed the yard. Crazy? Absolutely!

Lilly still surveys her domain from behind the back gate and everyone who walks by, receives a good barking as they pass. All of the Goldens had a turn out in the backyard and they seemed grateful with their tails wagging!

What is this feeling we get when winter is knocking at the door? It seems to be half anticipation and the other half a drive to prepare for what’s to come. Talk about mixed emotions!

The need to prepare for “hibernation” is strong. Hoses in, outdoor furniture stored, leaves raked (or shoveled) and other “scurrying about” is evident throughout the neighborhood. The list is long, but once it gets checked off, we can finally focus on the anticipation of the holidays and cozy evenings. Family gatherings, candles in the window, wrapping gifts, baking old family recipes and so much more lights our path forward.

So, as we say farewell to outdoor chores and focus on the warmth and beauty of indoor activities, my heart finds peace. The Goldens gather around and soak it all in…as do I.

Winter! Bring it on! We are ready for you!
