Day 881
This boy…such an absolute creature of habit! A couple of days ago I switched the wicker couch to the other side of the front porch, putting the two chairs there where the couch had been. That piece of furniture, the wicker couch, is Ranger’s favorite place to relax. Now, faced with the rearranged furniture, our sweet guy jumps up on one of the wicker chairs and looks at me with total confusion. Even though we have lured him onto his misplaced couch, he still jumps down and squeezes into the “traitor chair”!
My own daily routine is full of habits. Even though a change might make life easier, I tend to retrace my steps every day. There is something so comforting about a daily routine.
There are days when my “Creature of Habit” regime is shattered. Although I would claim to be a pliable person, sometimes I will balk at those changes. After the dust settles on an interrupted routine, I realize that life (as I know it) still flows on in spite of the interference!
It is probably a good practice to shake things up each day. Perhaps, just a small ‘switcheroo’ is just what the doctor ordered. I think I will try to change one small thing a day…just to practice being gracious when my routine is disrupted outside of my own control!
As for Ranger, he is still scrunched into his chair looking longingly at his beloved couch. Maybe you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!
