Day 842
We went to The Minnesota Zoo today! When asked what my favorite animal was, I finally decided the wolves! So much like my Goldens, their pack mentality was amazing!
Our Golden pack moves, reacts and relaxes together. When one runs in a direction, they all move that way. If there is a reason to bark, after the first low growl, they are all “singing the song of their people!" When one asks for affection, all four are nudging in for their share.
Not all humans are “pack oriented,” but I certainly am! There are those who love a solitary existence, but I am all about surrounding myself with loved ones. When I find myself alone for more than an hour or so, I tend to struggle with feelings of loneliness. Perhaps this is a throwback to times when groups helped their members survive.
Whatever the reason, I have made an attempt to appreciate and embrace my moments of solitude. Playing the piano, reading, crafts or just sitting with quiet thoughts can be a very nurturing experience. Much as I have tried…and there has been progress…I am always happy to hear the door open to allow a loved one in to rejoin the dwindled pack!
However, it does seem like I am cheating in a way… one is never actually alone with four beautiful Goldens!
