Day 841
Today, The Goldens helped to send this young man off to his first day of first grade! The excitement was palpable and the smiles and barking quite evident!
There have been more than a few "firsts" in my lifetime! The first time behind the wheel, my first plane ride, my first child...the list could go on for a very long time. All of these "firsts" helped to mold me into who I am today. Some were exciting, some sad, while others were wrought with anxiety. Somehow, they were all met with a step forward in life and now they are all memories.
Some of those "firsts" hold a very clear place in those memories while others have faded away. Although I have perfect memories of the most meaningful, the less memorable ones helped lead me down the pathway to this day.
As we grow older, those "firsts" become fewer and far between. Although some of those "firsts" deal with the aging process, there are still some surprises left for all of us...no matter what age! New adventures are lovingly embraced and still make us who we are today and tomorrow!
So, on Asher's first day, he trotted off to his new classroom. The other evening, at Open House, I had followed him down the long hallway to the room where I had spent my first grade year with the beloved Miss Bowers! I was astounded that he would share the exact same space as I had so long ago! Standing in that room, I could almost breathe in the lives of everyone who had learned and lived in those four walls...including me! I only hope his memories are as sweet!
Now, it will be my 'first' time of picking up my grandson from his 'first' day of 'first' grade! Let the memories continue!
