Day 835
Why is it so hard to administer care to someone? Take Gus, for example, who acts like we are going to cause great bodily harm when all we want to do is place some drops in his eyes! Even when I am at my sneakiest, he somehow sees the small bottle coming his way and takes off for his safe spot… under the dining room table. Try as we might, Mac and I can’t “tag-team” him out into the open. When we FINALLY corral him (never a pretty sight), he looks like the end is near!
I certainly avoid going to the doctor and try every trick in the book to cure myself before I head that way. When they take my blood pressure at the clinic, it is always high (White Fright) and I brace for the worst! Actually, after the initial intake, I remind myself how fortunate I am to have access to medical care! It also helps that they, as my last resort, can make things better!
We were at our amazing financial planner’s this afternoon when Mac remarked about some beautiful pictures showcased on the wall. Ben responded by telling us of his support for clean drinking water in Uganda and Malawi. His goal is to donate enough money to allow 40,000 people access to clean water in his lifetime…one village at a time. Humbling…
The next time I balk at a trip to seek medical help, I will remember the children in those pictures as the rejoice with a cup in their hands. How lucky am I? Perhaps we will help Ben reach his goal!
I only wish I could convince Gus to see how fortunate he is to have medical care. That is not going to happen, so I better figure out a way to gracefully join him under the table!
