Day 818

As I sat with my four Goldens at my feet, I wondered why they make me so happy. Admittedly, they make me smile, help the lives of seniors and get me out exercising, but it’s so much more than that! They seem to exude a force field of love and devotion around me!

Most people crave belonging and affection at some level. The researcher in me knows there are studies that examine the growth of children with a comparison between those who received nurturing and those who did not. Those in the "affection group” predictably developed to be better adjusted adults. No surprise there.

What my Goldens offer in abundance seems to be what we all need on a daily basis…love, companionship and acceptance. I can’t help but wonder what would result if each of us tried to be a little bit Golden on a daily basis and shared some love with an unsuspecting individual. While my Goldens offer that without hesitation, those of us on two legs would have to be more mindful of sharing. It’s just a thought.

In the meantime, I am going to go scratch some puppy ears, soak in the love and pass it on!
