Day 762
Happy Father's Day to all of those lucky men who are loved by kids or dogs (or both)! It is a day to celebrate the strength, guidance, love and devotion so many fathers offer to their loved ones. There have been a number of "fathers/dads" that have impacted my life, calmed the waters and loved me for being me. Bob Johnson, Maynard Pauley, Don Minor, George Collier, Ohrn O'dette...to name a few, have impacted my life in ways that enrich every day. Of course, my own father, Jim Farrier, was my guiding light, best friend and mentor. My father was a "Dad" in the most beautiful sense of the word.
It has been said that almost anyone can be a father, but it takes a special man to be a "Dad." On this Father's Day, I would like to acknowledge one special man who came late to the party, but took on the role of "Dad" as soon as he arrived. Husband, Mac has been devoted to our family, two-legged and four- alike, and demonstrates that in so many ways each and every day. Whether it's advice, support, wisdom or love, he shares all that he has to give with our "pack." We are forever grateful that you arrived, like a knight on a stallion, just when we needed you most.
In this day and age, it seems to be more accepted for fathers to share love and affection with their children. Back in the 50's, 60's and 70's, many men went to work, came home for supper and read the paper. Although that oversimplifies the situation, it is now great to see men unafraid to show affection and love for their children. It is also magical to see the bonds strengthen between father and child when the gates are thrown open to share the love.
Happy Father's Day, once again, to all fathers, but especially for those Dads who give so much! They know the secret...the love comes back to them exponentially!
