Day 763

When you have four Goldens, walking with them daily is a given. Rain or shine, we go on our walks!

Today, Sam's walk was dry, Gus's walk was dry...Lilly and Ranger's walk was wet!!!! They didn't seem to mind, so I joined them in that frame of mind. Why not enjoy this time with my pups...rain or shine?

Attempting to accept and appreciate a seemingly negative change of plans, is not always easy for me. My tendency is to balk at the roadblock and retreat if possible. However, my newest goal is to accept these changes and actually embrace them. If there is no real choice in the chain of events, why not look for the positive?

When one road is closed, perhaps the detour has a surprise that brings happiness. Perhaps you have to LOOK for it, but there is always a positive hidden in a, seemingly, negative situation.

Today, I slowed my pace in the rain. Since I was already wet, why not enjoy the event? Watching Lilly and Ranger disregard the rain made me smile and follow their lead. Using my senses, the smells seemed richer, the sounds of birds amplified, and the reflections in the puddles were beautiful. I really enjoyed that walk.

So, the next time you run into a roadblock, turn around and embrace the unexpected journey. Also, bring an umbrella!
