Day 753

When you get older, people tend to be a bit more understanding about your limitations. For Lilly, that means that we feed her on a doggy bed, help her up the stairs when needed and even feed her with a spoon at breakfast. The vet has given her a great health report, but we baby her anyway. Sometimes, I can almost hear her thoughts..."All I have to do is look pathetic and they will do my bidding"...she would be correct!

For many of us, age creeps up slowly and insidiously. To say we are surprised by certain age-related challenges is an understatement! My mind has stayed at about 39 while my body has continued down the Aging Road...leaving my mind in the dust!

When others try to help me do things, that were once very easily accomplished, I dig my heels in and try to do it myself! On the other hand, when I could use some help, my pride gets in the way and I plod on with independence.

It's a fine line between being independent and leaning towards a small amount of assistance.

Without turning into my conniving Lilly, I probably need to ask for help now and then...I won't like it, but it might be in everyone's best interest. If I fall off a roof or take a tumble on my rollerblades, who will walk the Goldens?!
