Day 728
This is the look we get when we tell them we need to leave for a little while. It is a mixture of love, anxiety and disbelief! If they could use words...
Lilly: "A LITTLE WHILE?!?!?! Last time you left us for 2 hours and 23 minutes!"
Sam: "I want to come with you! Please, please, PLEASE!!!"
Ranger: "Does that mean we get Guilt treats???"
Gus: "Please don't leave! I need you!"
We hate to leave them for even a short time, but when the suitcases appear, they all go into panic mode! It can only mean two things: A trip or The Cabin!
We recently had the joy of visiting Jimmy in California. Our Dog Sitter made it easier to leave, but those puppy eyes followed us out the door! They can't understand, but even if they could, they would still be sad.
When we become that Safe Person to any loved one, the responsibility is great. WE keep them safe! WE give them love! WE are the center of their world! This goes for two and four-legged alike. Many of us are 'sandwiched' in between the young and the elderly...add in pets and it is hard to leave home.
Adventures are always thrilling, but coming home to those who need us is truly "Coming Home." Being needed gives our lives purpose. Seeing the looks on the faces of those waiting for our return is priceless...even if it's only been 2 hours and 23 minutes!
