Day 729
My view of Sammy never varies. He is always AS CLOSE as he can possibly be...his devotion is humbling.
Last evening, Sammy was closer than ever when I said the magic words, "Tummy Time," to my Golden Crew. In their excitement, Sam and Gus had a moment of roughhousing that led to almost 100 pounds of fur hitting me in the knee! One thing I discovered...knees do not bend sideways! The positive part of that painful moment was that I had four Therapy Dogs easing my distress!
Having my agendas for each day, a rather sore knee was simply not on the list! Mac, my own personal medic, was right there this morning with love, ice and a knee brace, but I wanted to tough it out! So far, the progress is heartening.
What is it about Minnesotans that causes us to keep that stiff upper lip? Perhaps our heritage is partially responsible...only the toughest humans would ever choose to live in this state when winter arrives! It might be generations of hardworking farmers, laborers or other committed souls who braved this north country through the years. Another option might be the idea of not giving in to an injury when it gets in the way of my 'To Do List'! For me, all of these probably play a part.
Today, I will ice that knee and try to quell my frustration with a slower day. After all, I can always make a new 'To Do List' without taxing my traitorous knee too much. Also, I DO have a few Therapy Dogs to soothe my frayed nerves as I sit and stew!
