Day 727

There are ALL kinds of mothers in this world! For example, I am a Dog Mom to my Goldens and feel so honored to add that role to my life. They certainly need attention, care and training, but the love they return is so pure!

I am also Mom to my own children. That role has morphed over the years...they don't need me in the same way they did when they were little. I adored the years when I was the most important thing in their little lives, but my adult children are even better!

As an educator, there were certainly students who needed me to fill the role of Mom. I gladly stepped up to the plate more than a few times. Near the beginning of my career, one child even ended up living with me for a week until their parents could be found! That was an experience!

Looking in the other direction, there have been many Moms in my life who were a mother to me. Each taught me important lessons in life. Devotion, love, work ethic, strength, honesty, giving back and so much more were learned at the feet of these amazing women. Bobbie, Elaine, Shirley, Marge, and others were incredible role models, not to mention my own Nanny and Grandma! Along with setting my moral compass, they also shared their wisdom, recipes, crafting techniques and "How to be a Mother" when the time arrived.

So, Happy Mothers' Day to everyone who shares their love with those who need them. That goes for Dog Moms as well!
