Day 726
Always try to enjoy the times that bring out a smile on your face! These are the "sunshine" moments of life!
Today, while walking my Goldens, I decided to force a smile on my face. No only did my mood brighten up, but that smile was returned by other walkers, bikers and even people in cars! It was magical!
There has been much research on the act of smiling...
*Activates hormones which elevate your mood
*Endorphins are released in the brain. These neurotransmitters can help to minimize stress and resolve pain issues.
*Has benefits for the heart with tissue oxygenation and blood circulation
*Can boost self-esteem
*Can cross any language barriers
*Generates muscle relaxation and a feeling of well-being
*Feeds positive energy to the brain
*Can be contagious with most people smiling back
*Your demeanor looks more pleasant and others are drawn to you
Even though my doctoral brain desires to see the research studies and findings, on a visceral level, I believe in each and every benefit!
If smiling is all it takes to make the world a better place, I will be grinning from ear-to-ear! My Goldens have perfected the art already! If their "smiling" tail isn't enough, their toothy grin always brings a return smile their way!
So, SMILE! What have you got to lose?
