Day 722

Frequently, I am asked if the dogs enjoy their Therapy Dog visits...the answer is a resounding YES! We were visiting in the Heart Wing this morning when this bevy of lovely nurses gathered to greet my boy. They waited patiently while we met with a young man (with autism) in the waiting area, who was afraid of dogs. Ranger worked his magic and soon they were sharing the love...then off to his adoring nurse fans!

Another question that arises often is, "Do you enjoy this kind of volunteer work?" For me the answer is always an immediate "Yes," but today, I wanted to take a moment and delve into the benefits for the gal at the end of the leash.

*The people I meet are amazing...some have become such a part of my life.

*It keeps me active and involved outside my own world.

*I get to watch people smile because of my Goldens.

*There are times when we can ease a hurting heart.

*I am able to watch kindness in action as my Goldens make a difference. Their faces are like magnets to people who need a little love.

*Being there for others is an amazing feeling. It warms my heart.

*I get to spend time with my amazing pack... making my world more beautiful.

There are other reasons as well, but if I had to put it into one reason, it would be simply doing our part to make the world a little kinder. I would recommend volunteering to anyone who has the time.

Tomorrow, we are back at it! I never know what might happen at the other end of the leash. I am just glad I get to hold on and watch those amazing Goldens work their magic!
