Day 682

Today, we had the pleasure of having Asher at our house. Due to a respiratory illness, our grandson needed to stay home and we were the lucky grandparents who were there to spoil him on this day.

We read, played games, built magnetic block castles and even allowed him to play in a bubble bath for an hour! All the time, there were guardians "on watch" during every activity! All four Goldens seemed to realize he was a bit 'under-the-weather' and decided he needed their Therapy Dog talents!

I am always amazed at the way a dog's empathy kicks in whenever anyone is sad, sick or lonely. Their physical closeness and connectedness are palpable. I have heard it said we don't deserve dogs and I would agree.

Whenever I am not feeling well, there is always comfort surrounding me. The love and concern of friends, Medic Mac, warm blankets, the fireplace, Andy Griffith reruns AND dogs. The Goldens will surround anyone in need and try to heal with their love and devotion...it works every time! Perhaps that is why they are such blessings on their visits to hospitals, schools and senior living establishments.

Today, Sweet Asher got a small taste of that puppy love. He says he is on the mend already and I didn't even have to pull out the Andy Griffith shows! It must have been the Goldens!
