Day 681

It has been said that certain dog breeds seem to be more prone to touching their people. If that is true, Goldens must be near the top of that list. Often called "Velcro Dogs," our four are proof of that connection! There are even times when Mac and I have the challenge of extricating ourselves from 16 paws!

A dear friend, and someone I look up to, once posted the sentiment:

"Stay close to people who feel like sunshine!"

Such a simple statement, but one that is hard to follow.

We all have friends who fall into this category, but there are others who are not so sunny by nature. Being in the presence of my 'sunshine friends' brightens my world and gives me positive energy. That energy follows me through the rest of the day and allows me to shine as well.

Other people seem to cast a cloud when they walk into a room. Although kindness is my guide, I tend to avoid spending too much time with them.

There is a third group to consider. Those who are dealing with sadness, stress or pain might just have a hard time being cheerful and upbeat. My Goldens and I gravitate in their direction to share some of our own sunshine. We all have those days when smiles are not easy.

However, choosing to be around my "sunshine people" is a gift I give to myself. And, as always, my Goldens feel like sunshine every moment of every day!
