Day 661
It is safe to say that a majority of our newest friends are due to our Therapy Dogs. Being the Golden Magnets that they are, we get new "buddies" because of their sweet natures. Lilly and Ranger love their friends and we do too!
The old saying about making new friends, but keeping the old...one is silver and the other gold, took on new meaning today. Meeting a high school friend, with his lovely wife, for lunch this afternoon, made me ponder...gold or silver? The decision was BRONZE! High school friends, with a 50-year connection gap made his friendship both old and new: bronze!
With the Olympics approaching, medals become very noteworthy. Gold, silver and bronze take their place by rank with gold at the top of the podium. Even though the judges award the medals based on performance, the recipients might be separated by the smallest of percentages. One tiny slipup and the medals might go to the next in line. In other words, the athletes being awarded the different medals are certainly worthy...but perhaps only "worthier" by a hair.
Our new/old, Bronze friends were delightful and we enjoyed every moment! How fortunate to reconnect as the same people morphed into something new due to life's journey. We have walked beside our Gold friends throughout our lives, met our Silver friends and discovered their lives through the sharing of amazing stories and found Bronze friends wonderfully unique as we piece together our memories with their current lives. All are such a gift as we travel down our paths. All are treasured for the joy they bring.
Lilly and Ranger would like to have me thank most of our new, Silver friends for loving them. They also wanted to remind me that THEY have been quite instrumental in any new friendship we have embraced! Feeling so fortunate to be surrounded by all of our treasured friends...Bronze, Silver and Gold alike!
