Day 621
Our Sammy is making so much progress towards his future Therapy Dog days! The obedience part of his brain is growing as is his loving heart. He can actually control his Zoomies when need be!
The Big White House is full of many things...one of them being dog bones and toys. Whenever one doggy item looks like it has served its purpose, before I can dispose of it, Sammy decides it is his new favorite! Actually, ALL of the chewing objects seem to belong to him. If Gus has it, Sam needs it! However, when the seniors have one of "his" toys, he allows them to borrow it for a bit...waiting for a chance to steal it back!
We have been addressing the other "full" parts of the house as well. After four generations residing here, there is a plethora of treasures that must be dealt with before someone gets hurt! (Actually, I did trip over one of these items today and got quite the goose egg when my head said hello to the doorway!)
With the help of our amazing neighbor, we have been boxing up items we no longer need and taking them to her home. She posts them on Market Place and we all benefit from the sales. Miss Heather is a gem and we appreciate every little thing that is repurposed, thanks to her expertise in selling.
The big question is, "How do I choose what stays and what goes across the street?" I follow the advice of my Texas Bestie when she said, "Pick up an item. If it brings you joy, keep it, otherwise out it goes!" These words of wisdom have helped me part with more than one treasure!
Decluttering is good for the spirit! When a closet has been cleaned, I tend to stand in the doorway (We have huge closets!) and enjoy the view. On occasion, I will even ask myself what has disappeared from the shelves. Very often, I will draw a blank as to what once held such value to be deemed "keep."
So, I continue to make headway in the vast array of treasures, keeping only those things that bring me joy. Keeping every gift from friends, special teddy bears, cards that touched my heart and other joy-producers has still left portions of The Big White House manageable. Now...for those dog toys!
