Day 431
Lilly has a most special friend at Walker. Parts of his amazing life have found their way into this blog. He is such an incredible part of my life and I have honestly grown to love him...almost as much as the love Lilly shares with him.
When we visit, my Golden Girl rushes over to his chair and, after a sniff plus a few wet dog kisses, she settles down at his feet. After she gets comfortable, she "scooches" in a few times to get ever closer to this man. Eventually, she winds up on top of his feet, with her paws wrapped around his ankles. She doesn't do this with anyone else...just Don.
After losing most of his sight, touch is crucial to this man...and Lilly knows it.
Physical contact is an essential element for humans and other creatures as well. It offers reassurance, kindness and love when someone's heart is in need of those supports. A simple hug, touch of the hand (or paw on the foot) can be a welcome gesture that eventually finds it's way to the heart.
Lilly somehow understands this and never hesitates to snuggle in. Don't ever be afraid to reach out to someone with a hug or touch of the hand...it goes right to the heart. Take it from my Golden Girl.
