Day 423
We started our day with walks. Sam, followed by Gus, and then our seniors took to the sidewalk. It was a Golden Morning!
Having lived on Christian Hill my entire life, I vacillate between memories and the present. From my childhood, I am often flooded with visions of "The Old Neighborhood"...
*Susie's window where we played dolls
*Kathy's front yard where the bikes were piled like calling cards
*Grandma Babcock's kitchen window where donuts were made and shared weekly.
*Marie's home where Star Trek and popcorn were often paired.
*Marlene's window where clarinet music often filtered down.
*Anderson's house which was the backdrop for rousing games of tag.
...and so many more memories that seemed like yesterday!
Fast forward to the present. Neighbors shouting out "Good Morning," cars stopping by to check in on the pups, friends waving out the window and other idyllic, quaint happenings that make this place so precious.
Next, we attended a funeral honoring one of our beloved seniors at Walker. She was a musician (along with her dear husband), so music was beautifully abundant during the service. A brass band and a renowned organ/piano performer astonished those in attendance along with other musical offerings. It was almost a concert, but we all knew that our friend would have loved it beyond measure! Because of my Goldens, we have become part of the extended family. Seeing the urn we helped select, a Howard Teddy Bear that was a gift from us and the love extended to us from family and friends was touching. She will be missed, but our love for her, and her husband, lives on.
Senior Goldens went in for their yearly exam and, mercifully, everything looks pretty normal for our ten-year-olds. After an hour with the techs and the amazing Dr. Duke, Lilly and Ranger were ready to head home. They are so exhausted!
Well, it's almost suppertime and our sweet Asher just came over so his folks could have a Date Night. Life is good. Walking With Goldens is amazing and Asher is calling out, "Hey, Nanny!"
Counting my blessings...
