Day 332
4/13/23
Ranger made a new friend today! We arrived at Oxbow to read with our first graders and checked in at the front desk. Ranger always gets his Therapy Dog International form signed (Today was his 350th visit!) and then greets the secretary and other staff in the office. After receiving much love, high fives and tail wags, we were off to our reading buddies.
Our young readers were charming and excited to share their books with Ranger today. We have about ten minutes to read a book and share some thoughts about the story. There is also always a bit of time for Ranger to interact with each child. He absolutely loves those moments!
Today, there was one student who actually got down on the floor and rubbed Ranger's tummy, scratched his ears and held his paw. My boy likes just about everyone, but this little girl was special. Ranger seemed to instantly bond with his new friend.
Some people exude such grace, happiness and an open heart! When you first meet them, it is as if you have know them forever! Those are the kind of individuals I love to have in my life. They simply make me happy!
Tonight, on my front porch, I met one of those people! Getting to know each other through Facebook does not typically allow for a bonding friendship, but this is a special lady! She has a Golden, who has stolen my heart, a lovely family and simply exudes goodness and light! She walked up the front stairs and I knew her immediately. After hugs, Golden loves from my pack and a visit, she was off to watch her granddaughter play lacrosse at the field.
We all grow immeasurably when we welcome a new friend into our worlds. Ranger gets that, I embrace that and we all understand the warmth of a new person entering our life.
So to Gracie, the Golden's mama, the little reader who befriended Ranger and all individuals who unexpectedly brighten our days...thank you!
