Day 331
4/12/23
When is the last time you felt free and unrestrained from worries or doubts? Ranger would tell you that he had that "wind in your hair" experience today. He would also probably tell you he has that feeling almost every day!
For me, those moments have become more subdued, but they are just as pleasing to the soul when they occur. However, I am not certain I could say that I have the same joyful feelings as Ranger on a daily basis. I began to ask myself why that is.
When we are children, speeding down the driveway on roller skates, running and jumping into a pool, mountain biking down a steep trail and so many other adventures are simply part of life. The worries of childhood are fewer, or at least not as daunting as adulthood. Still, every day was a "Ranger Day" when I was young.
Now, I contemplate tedious things like:
*Do I have the time to be frivolous?
*Am I in danger of breaking any bones?
*Could my time be spent doing something more selfless?
*Shouldn't I be home cleaning something?
*Will there still be that childhood thrill when I attempt a "Ranger Moment?"
Well, I can take the fun out of an event before I place one foot in the direction of adventure. From now on, each day I am going to attempt to approach the thrill of a "wind in my hair" moment! If I can capture that joy my Goldens display, only for a moment in time, it will be well worth it! Perhaps tomorrow I will dig out those roller blades again... (I can't wait to hear what my kids say when they read that last statement!)
