Day 266

2/6/23

Here are my sweet Goldens modeling their Christmas gift from a good friend! Our dear Sarah, also know as Boss, had these made especially for our pack! Notice Sam is wearing the "Shark Bandana"!

Giving gifts to others is one of my favorite things to do. I even have a "Gift Cupboard" filled with special presents just waiting for the right recipient. Unfortunately, I typically bypass that cache because I find just the right present for someone when I am out shopping!

What is it about offering the perfect gift to a loved one? I know I enjoy the "hunt" for the superb pairing, the wrapping/bagging to make it look beautiful and the anticipation of making someone happy. However, it seems to have deeper roots than that.

When you give or receive a gift from someone, the connection to that person is meaningful. The giver cares enough to choose and offer the gift and the recipient shares their gratitude...basically connecting two hearts. That is the true beauty of gift-giving.

If it is truly better to give than to receive, then I am in luck. As much as I am honored and truly touched to be the person gifted, I do love to be the one doing the offering.

However, I just got called away from my writing to visit with daughter Katie. When I went downstairs, there she was with a beautiful bouquet of flowers. "Just a thank you", she said. I noticed how my heart was warmed and, as Asher says, "My eyes got wet."

Well, after all is said and done, it sure is nice to receive now and then as well!
