Day 265
2/5/23
Dogs never seem to let you down. Whether we are aware or not, they simply watch and fill in when needed. If we are sad, scared, tired or lonely, they come right up and into our arms. No questions asked.
It is my goal to never let my Goldens down. I know that I disappoint them when I leave for a bit or refuse to share my supper, but they know they can count on me. Lately, I have been pausing whenever I pass one of them to take a moment to breathe in their beautiful souls. Ranger, Lilly and Gus simply lean in while their little brother always rolls over for a tummy rub. When I move on, I am so much richer from the interaction.
I am sure I have let friends and family down in the past and can even remember a time or two when I should have stepped up to the plate sooner. Even in those instances, I have attempted to make things right by sharing my regrets and taking extra care to make amends.
Learning from my mistakes is one of my best attributes. After all, I have had a lot of practice! When I choose the wrong road, I am quick to look at the map again and plan a different route for the future. It never feels good to disappoint someone.
A goal, in recent years, is to listen with my heart for hidden messages or pleas from those around me. Believe me, they are out there, but not always easy to spot. It is also not easy to ask others for help...after all, we are independent Minnesotans "dontcha" know! When I sense a need, I offer whatever I can to ease that burden. My goal is to never let anyone else down again. It's a lofty one, but certainly worthy of the effort.
Once again, I need to be more like my Goldens. They don't ask. They don't wait. They simply move in when they are needed. I can honestly say my pups have never disappointed me! They are the teachers and I am the student this time!
