Day 256

1/27/23

Today, I realized that I belong to a pack of Goldens! Wherever I go in the house, there are usually 16 Golden feet following in my wake. This afternoon I sat down with Asher for a moment and there they were! Snuggled up against each other (Gus and Sam were snuggle/playing) and filling the room with so much love! I feel very blessed to be part of this pack!

We all belong to one or more packs. One of my most cherished ones is a group of ladies from Eisenhower Elementary where we all taught school together. After one of our pack suffered a stroke, we determined that it was time to live life to its fullest. When our dear friend recovered, we decided to form a club and give ourselves a name: Life's Too Short!

This amazing circle of eight friends met and dropped adventure suggestions into a coffee can. There were some outrageous ones, like sky diving, and others that seemed outside our reach...like going to Las Vegas.

One day, right before Mac and I were married, there was a knock on my classroom door near the end of the school day. Two of our members said, "Get you coat!" and, leaving my students with another willing teacher, escorted me down the hallway. The rest of the staff was out in the hall cheering us on!

We jumped in a van where most of the group had congregated. Someone's phone rang and "Barry Manilow" began to sing me a song! "He" told me I was going to his concert and looked forward to seeing me there! Laughing, I said that I didn't know Barry was in town. My pack told me he wasn't...he was in Las Vegas!

When they said we were off to the airport, I looked around and KNEW that was a joke because my dear friend, Linda, vowed she would NEVER fly! Sitting next to me, she reached in her pocket and produced the plane tickets!

What a whirlwind of laughter, fun, adventure AND a Barry Manilow concert in Las Vegas! I still can't really believe my pack would celebrate me with a Bachelorette Party of such magnitude!

What memories! The LTS (Life's Too Short) group is still an amazing group of women! Having added a few years to our ages, we have given up on the sky diving...or have we?

I am beyond lucky to belong to this "pack"!!!!!
