Day 232
1/2/23
Today was an adventure day! Lilly and the other Goldens are never happy when Mommy goes off without them, and they let me know. Pouting and clinging is their way of begging me to stay close. After a promised return, Jimmy and I were off to Duluth, Minnesota!
In his business, my son does acting/streaming/voice-overs/commercials/extra work/vlogging/etc. Today, I was part of the fun! We headed up north, with a quick stop at Tobie's (in Hinckley) for a cinnamon roll and ended up at Canal Park in Duluth. Cameras in hand, we skidded down to the "beach."
Looking out across Lake Superior is always breath-taking, but in the winter, it actually takes your breath away! It was COLD!!! However, when Jimmy started live-streaming and all his followers hopped on board, the cold took a back seat to the warmth of the comments as they shared our day. What a fine group of followers he has gathered!
Now, in January, the boat traffic is almost down to nothing as the ice is creeping towards the canal. However, today was one of those days when everything goes well and surprises abound! 15 minutes into the live stream, the lift bridge started to ascend, and an iron ore ship could be seen approaching the harbor.
Later, people were talking about the surprise of this boat arriving so late in the season. It was almost as if it steamed in just for us! The size of these ships is always shocking and the sounds...as it broke up the ice at the bow of the ship...amazing! Then the boat horn signaled its approach to the bridge the and bridge answered with an even louder response! Hollywood couldn't have staged it better! We had people from all over the country and the world watching this stream and they were enthralled!
After we thawed out over a burger at Grandma's Saloon & Grill, we headed towards home. Being aware of an impending winter storm, we were relieved to pull into the driveway. However, nothing could top the Golden Greeting that awaited us when we opened the back door! They cried and surged forward to embrace us in their love. What a homecoming!
Duluth is magical, but returning to Goldens is even better!
