Day 223

12/24/22

"Not a creature was stirring...

not even a mouse."

Christmas Eve holds a special place in my heart. So many memories here at The Big White House and new treasured memories-in-the-making. There is a sacred feel in the very air we breathe this night...a fine thread between 'what was' and 'what is' on this night of nights.

"The stockings are hung by the chimney with care" and the Goldens seem to be peacefully resting as they wait with the rest of us. (Yes, Santa fills the pup's stockings too!)

Memories flood my heart as I look back on my Christmas mornings as a child, as well as being able to watch my own four run down the stairs to see what Santa had left for them. I smile as I remember the laughter and joy filling the living room on those mornings. I look forward to seeing my own children and Asher open their presents and stockings tomorrow. When we gather, it is almost as if I feel the presence of loved ones from the past and sense the love that still floats through the house year after year.

Know that I wish each of you a blessed Christmas with simple pleasures and deep connections with loved ones. I know I will be counting my blessings...both two and four-legged ones.

"And I heard him exclaim 'ere he drove out of sight, Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night."
