Day 221

12/22/22

We are beyond thankful for Post-Surgery Gus! He is resting comfortably under the watchful eye of his Mama. Sam is constantly on guard while Lilly and Ranger are near.

When we started our day, Gus was not himself. We made the decision to take him in which led to exploratory surgery. The x-rays indicated a foreign object in his digestive track. Whatever it was, it had to go!

Four hours later, the surgeon called (mid-surgery) to update us. They could find nothing and had called in a second surgeon for another opinion. Nothing! They did take some lining samples to see if there was a chronic digestive issue.

Home now, on lots of RX and sporting an 8 inch incision. Poor Buddy!

We are all so grateful for the results and will be spending some time sleeping next to him under the Christmas tree. He is now even more precious to us.

Scurrying around getting ready for Christmas, this "Gus Thing" was not on the list of activities. However, it is now priority #1! It is funny how seemingly important things mean nothing when a loved one needs us.

Mac, who likes to shop at the last minute, asked me what I wanted for Christmas. Snuggled up to Gus on his bed, I smiled and said, "This is my gift...and I couldn't love it more!"
