Day 1057
As I sit writing in my dad’s old armchair, the four Goldens surround me. It occurs to me that, if these gentle beasties wanted to gang up on me for an attack, they would be pretty frightening! Lucky for us, they don’t have a mean bone in their furry bodies!!
What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger (except for bears…bears will kill you! )! This saying holds true for so many life “opportunities!” Illness, family issues, stress, etc. can take a physical and mental toll on your body. It can also illuminate a personal strength you didn’t know existed. The question then becomes, how do you lean into the positive strength and avoid those lurking bears?
I am not always successful in acknowledging my own strength, but I have encountered a few tricks that work for me. When looking inward to find fortitude when facing a life “opportunity," I have taken four steps:
1. Pause
2. Breathe
3. Look at my options
4. React
By the time I arrive at #4, my reaction is calm by nature. It also illuminates my inner strength and ability to not “run from the bear!”
Now, about that Halo of Goldens… there’s no danger there!
