Day 918
When that one child has his own idea about how things should go!!! Gus was NOT excited about posing for a picture! The rest of them (surprisingly) were happy to oblige. What could have been frustrating turned into a hilarious time with loads of laughter!
There are many “opportunities” in life that do not go as planned. School programs, hair cuts, camping trips, weddings or traffic, to name a few, can take a whole new direction when the unexpected happens. So many times, these “happy little accidents” change the course of the moment, but turn out to be a better outcome in the long run!
In our Therapy Dog work, there have been many such moments! An elevator opens on the wrong floor and an opportunity arises to share some Golden Love with the person waiting to enter. On our way to a certain floor, we are stopped with a request to see a family member in need of support. A nurse comes out from a room and needs some doggy love. These examples, and so many more, offer unexpected chances to help someone.
Opening the door to an unplanned experience can be amazing. When you hit a roadblock, simply look for an avenue to the other side. You might have to hop over or crawl under, but therein lies the adventure.
I try to embrace unexpected “opportunities” and am rarely disappointed with the outcome. After taking NUMEROUS photos, this one might just be my favorite!
