Day 895
What a beautiful day to go walking with my Goldens! A light jacket was all I needed so off on three walks I went with first Sam, then Gus and finally my seniors. I love these walks every day, but glory in the warmth and beauty of a fall morning.
These pups are ABSOLUTE creatures of habit. They know our daily routine better than we do by far. From the moment they realize we are ready to start the day, they know the steps. If we have the audacity to serve breakfast before their outside time, they become suspicious and stubborn. Ranger, in particular, looks at us as if to say, “ What are you up to?” and becomes uneasy. So, we stick to the schedule as best we can!
Being a right-brained, creative sort, I depend on a schedule. Like Ranger, I am uneasy when left to do as I please. Checklists, daily routines and predictable expectations are within my comfort zone. This is how I am most productive. However, what if I wanted to shed that safety net for a period of time?
Turning that “To Do” list face down and taking a step away from the mold I have self-created might be an adventure of sorts! Waving farewell to the load of wash in the machine as I saunter aimlessly out the door has a real appeal right now! I could just go for a bike ride instead of folding clothes! There is really no reason to hesitate…except for that list that I can see in my mind’s eye!
So, today, I will go fold the wash and THEN take a ride after the Goldens’ 2:30 feeding! Ranger is already giving me “The Look!” Small steps…
