Day 878

We are out on the front porch soaking up the last part of “summer.” What a glorious time to be in the beauty surrounding us. The trees are turning, the breeze is cooling and we are all catching scents of the season. My Goldens live in the moment, but I am savoring this day and plan on tucking it away into my heart.

I tend to be a Memory Collector. Unlike my Goldens, who live in the moment, my tendency is to savor a moment and then file the memory away to pull out whenever I need it. On a cold, rainy day, I will be able to conjure up this moment and relish its beauty once more.

Not only do I collect beautiful memories, I also collect “settings” and imagine myself sitting, walking or standing there as the main character, as I reminisce and relive the beauty of a memory. It is surprising how calming and reassuring it can be.

Perhaps it would be easier to live in the real moment, like my Goldens. Of course, I try to be present to enjoy life as it happens, but so many experiences are worthy of replaying over and over. They can bring you peace, happiness and comfort when you need them most!

So now, I will pet my pups, feel the warm breeze on my skin and marvel at the changing leaves. Then, I will tuck this moment away, to revisit in the future…perhaps when I am shoveling snow!
