Day 874

Ordering the quilt and quilt-hangers was the easy part! Figuring out who could help me hang it was not as simple!

After fussing around for the perfect partner-in -crime, I looked at my four Goldens and decided the five of us were more than capable!

Measuring, figuring out the drill, drilling and hanging the quilt was fun! The Goldens gathered around to watch and give advice in the form of sniffs and paws on my legs. It was a miracle I stayed upright with their loving guidance! Now, I have to decide if it is the right quilt for the wall!

Doing something on your own can be such a boost of confidence! There have been other accomplishments which have instilled pride in myself in the past, but my favorite achievements have been with a team. Earlier today was no exception!

We were unable to lower the pontoon lift. Hence, we could not drive the boat over to the landing for the pickup for storage. Our dearest friends were by our side through the whole grizzly process until we decided we needed a Plan B. The new attempt would include a pulley system (come-alongs) to slide the pontoon off of the lift and into the water. Mac and I bought the needed equipment and planned to tackle it the next day.

However, these same, beautiful friends showed up with waders, rope, pulleys and other supplies to support us once again. It wasn’t pretty, but the four of us ( I am the youngest) forged ahead. After two hours of heroic effort, that boat groaned off the lift while our team cheered and high-fived each other! Taking stock, we all had our fingers and eyes intact… which was a gift indeed!

How do you thank friends for being part of a team like that? There are no words, dinners or gifts that can express your gratitude.

Being there for others, no matter what is needed, is the true meaning of friendship. Even when it gets challenging, to forge ahead without “jumping ship," is such a true measure of the depth of a loving relationship.

The Goldens are sitting by me, almost like they are reminding me that they, too, helped with a difficult task today. I will give them some ear rubs and a treat while I gaze at that quilt and smile because it’s still hanging! I sure could have used my “pontoon team,” but at least I can check that quilt off my a “To-Do List!”
