Day 867
How many times have we heard, “It’s for your own good!” In our lives? Today, our two youngest got “The Spa Treatment” which consists of a Waterpic Wand attachment to the hose, heated water plumbed outside for the pups, shampoo rub, oatmeal conditioner and heated towels. You would have thought we were trying to end their lives!!!! I kept reminding them that “It was for their own good!”
After the initial tussle, both boys settled in and even shut their eyes in bliss! Like most of us, others often know what just might be best for us! Dogs aside, humans need more of that in the early stages of life. In fact, that need stays mighty high until about 26 or so. Then it recedes, but starts mounting once again at my age!
*Wouldn’t it be best to sell those rollerblades?
*Don’t you think driving in the city is risky?
You should wear that helmet! How about wrist guards?
*Wouldn’t it be best to let someone else mow?
I have determined that people simply care about my well-being. Much like when my children were little, the intent is to protect the loved one and keep them close. I have learned to take no offense, but to simply acknowledge the love being offered.
Like my pups, my head may balk at someone saying, “It’s really for your own good," but my heart embraces the loving intent.
