Day 848
Sammy loved this stuffy to smithereens. He loved it so hard, we set it aside to discard later. Coming upon this forlorn figure in the laundry room this morning, I looked into those glassy eyes and decided to give him a chance. Armed with a needle and thread, I went to work on the poor little thing. When I was done, most of the stuffing was intact and a new, slightly crooked stuffy seemed to smile up at me. He was worth saving.
We have all felt torn and discarded in this life. Perhaps it was in childhood, adolescence or adulthood, but we can all recall a time when we felt forsaken or disposable. Luckily, for most of us, there was someone with enough love in their heart to sew us back together once again. I am forever grateful for that person in my life.
Now, as I place that rumpled stuffy in a place of safety, I will be vigilant for those torn and ripped souls who might just need a stitch or two of love! My sewing kit is ready.
