Day 815
It is not often that I find myself in the presence of royalty, but today was a wonderful exception! Not only did I get to have lunch with my beloved Marlene, but we planned our meeting around a fundraiser for RAGOM!
Arriving at the event, we were introduced to the founder of “Retrieve A Golden Of the Midwest”! This amazing lady took time to explain her rise to fame! The simple beginnings of an organization that is now fostering and rehoming hundreds of golden retrievers started with just two people who loved Goldens! She is changing this world four paws at a time!
What does it take to have the vision and wherewithal to create something this grand? Sometimes, as in the case of RAGOM, it takes small steps that naturally lead into giant steps. Other times, there is planning, advertising and securing monies to achieve a dream.
I have always wanted to pair senior citizens with senior dogs. I have the blueprint in my mind and can visualize the benefits for both two- and four-legged seniors. Adding on a senior dog rescue to a senior community is my long-time vision. Since it doesn’t look like a grass roots movement, I will need to be more creative. Hence, my 5th book (in the Teddy Bear Chronicles) will address my dream. What a beautiful setting for older dogs to be loved and taken care of by senior citizens who would be the perfect guardians!
Who knows…
