Day 781

Poor Ranger... fearful of the fireworks and seeking safety. In this case, he found it snuggled up to Mama's knitting bag and the corner...where "he can't be seen!"

There certainly are times in everyone's life when they hope to fade into the scenery. Even those who love the 'limelight' have moments when they would like to be invisible. The only problem is that, although you may feel unseen, you are still on other people's radar.

When I look back on those moments in my life when I wanted to disappear, I recall that, after a deep breath, I moved forward and faced whatever made me want to run and hide. In the end, facing my fears made me stronger and more resilient.

For Ranger, and the other Goldens, facing their fear of fireworks will not happen. So, I "treat" their fright with compassion, love and a safe harbor by my side. Just as I have relied on others' strength in my past, I can offer that strength to my Goldens...or anyone else in need.
