Day 776

We had the pure joy of attending the wedding of a beloved student from so long ago! The groom was handsome, the bride was beyond beautiful, the venue (an old Minneapolis mansion) incredible and the ceremony touched everyone's heart. There were even lovely fans for the guests should they become warm! The day was planned to perfection and smiles abounded.

After the dinner, a guest came in to alert others about vandalism in the parking lot. A few people went outside and came in to report the damage. Those of us lucky enough to still have our car windows intact supported those who faced broken glass in and out of their cars. Why...?

Why, indeed! How could a few minutes steal the complete joy from the day? Why would someone choose to vandalize cars at a wedding? Of course, they didn't know it was a wedding. They didn't know the wedding party or the loved ones gathered to celebrate the bride and groom. Still, the question remains...Why?

Hopefully, the newlyweds will remember the beauty of their day and allow the actions of cruel strangers to fade into the background. As we all gathered in the parking lot to hug and support those who had their cars damaged, I knew that the love of the day would ultimately overshadow the unfortunate events.

So, here's to love and happiness...light always erases dark.
