Day 773
Miss Lilly has brought so many amazing people into our lives! Without that sweet face (along with our Golden Boys), some of the most incredible people we know would never have entered our world! Just today, Mac and I went out to lunch with two of our favorites from Walker. The Harmonica Man...soon to be 101... and my new "Adopted Brother" were present along with a couple we met through our journey at Walker. All six of us sat for two hours, ate lunch, visited and shared some love. When it was time to go, both or our beloved gentlemen guests made sure the Goldens had a "To Go Box" filled with bacon and chicken! It was a delightful date!
There are so many times when, being at the other end of the leash, people enter my life and reside in my heart for years to come. Some interactions are fleeting, but a number of them turn into lasting relationships. The Goldens bring people into our lives who become family.
For those who don't have a leash in their hands, it might be a little more difficult to ease into a new friendship. So many of us live full lives with family and friends and are not looking for more people to "fit into our world." That would have been me before Therapy Dogging became a big part of my life. I have met the most amazing people who have become part of the fabric of my heart. Without stretching outside my circle a bit, there would be no "Harmonica Man," no Adopted Brother Sonny", no "Enrichment Director Bethany," no "Concierge Doreen," No "J.P. and J. P.", No "Kathy the Teacher"...and the list goes on and on. Without opening the door beyond what is safe and comfortable, we never know who might impact our lives in the most astounding way!
Thank you, Lilly, Ranger, Gus and Sam for opening doors that would not only remain closed, but never even be noticed! Being at the other end of the leash is a gift each and every day!
