Day 742
Traveling with four Goldens is similar to The Beverly Hillbillies when they moved to Beverly Hills! We are packed in so tight with food and luggage along with "Doggy Necessities" (crates, dog food, toys, dog beds, etc.) that the only thing missing is Granny Clampett sitting in her rocking chair on the roof!
Being the best riders ensconced on their numerous quilts, all four Goldens are still delighted to arrive home to their backyard after a journey! They were almost smiling as if to say, "There's NO place like home!"
The older I get, the more places I want to travel...New Zealand, Austria, Nova Scotia, Italy. I would also love to return to Ireland, Hawaii and Germany because I simply needed more. The only problem is leaving the dogs at home. We do take trips to see loved ones, but only with the knowledge that our doggy sitters are the best! Still, it's hard to leave those faces!
As one ages, it seems your sense of adventure is impeded by your love of home and those who live there...age also tends to be an issue. For example, mountain biking or alpine sliding down Lutsen Mountain pulls at my heart, but my head says, "I don't think so!"
The same is true for jumping out of airplanes, scuba diving and roller blading. (I do still have those roller blades!). When 'Me, Myself and I' have a little discussion about "adventures," one of the voices always says, "Well, if you get hurt, who will walk the dogs?"
For now, traveling will be focused on loved ones and the lake. There are still adventures waiting, but nothing down too steep a hill! The Goldens make home a good place to be. They are sometimes adventure enough!
