Day 732
We joined in on a garage sale today. As it was across the street, the Goldens had a "Dogs Eye View" of the festivities. Watching out our windows, they were not pleased about being separated!
Garage sales are NOT a part of my repertoire any more! However, I am not against helping a neighbor... especially when she is selling a majority of MY stuff! Our neighbor is amazing at organizing, displaying and marketing, so I gladly added my many treasures to the sale!
There are two questions brewing in my mind as I tend to the shoppers swarming the garage on this day:
1. Why do THEY need this stuff?
2. Why did I purchase it in the first place?
Both are easily answered. We are gatherers. Things are fun to collect but, as they lose their luster and we move on to a new focus, the "things" we gathered maintain a slight glow and are hard to get rid of. When we see new people collecting our old things, we don't feel as guilty about buying them in the first place. We receive pennies on the dollar and gleefully dream about using it for our new collections! What a vicious circle!
People are funny! We love to gather! Now, if anyone needs a teddy bear, I know where you can get one cheap!
Goldens would never need to join the Rat Race of buying and purging!!!! They simply live for the moment without collecting much of anything! I can learn from them!!! Bonus: No more garage sales!
